Filming Day 1

As we had an inset day on Wednesday 16th November, we all decided to stay at Harri Longs the night before as we were filming all of our scenes either in her house or around her village, and also we felt that this would then save time then if we were all to have to travel up there in the morning, and so that we could all wake up at the same time and begin filming immediately. We decided to set an alarm at 10am for the Wednesday morning so that we would be dressed and organised to begin filming our first scenes at 11am. We put aside 20 minutes to ensure that we reached the location for our first scenes that we would shoot at the deserted house in the village of Sandon in time so that we kept to our schedule and got all of our scenes shot in time and when everyone was present to be able to work on the filming together.

At 11.30am, we had finished all of the scenes that needed to be shot using the isolated house, so we moved on to film at the local graveyard which was a 5 minute walk from our previous filming location. At roughly 11.35am we began filming at the graveyard and were finished by 12.30pm which then enabled us to film along the village lane in which led to the graveyard and to be finished by 12.45pm as it was only a few short shots that were needed and as they worked well the first few times of filming, we did not need to carry on and do more. This was useful as it then meant that we would be able to spend more time on the more detailed scenes that were to be filmed in Harri Longs house.

By 1pm we had returned back to Harri Longs house and had set up the tripod in her kitchen and continued to film a further short scene in which involved myself and Ellie, we had finished filming this sequence by 1.10pm and then we went on to film the following scene that was to be shot on Harri Longs stairs. We were finished these two scenes by 1.30pm and then had a short 30 minute break to relax and have a drink before filming began again at 2pm.

From 2pm until 2.15pm we filmed a scene in which Ellie was to be dragged along the Harri Longs landing, this scene was short and not many takes had to be redone as we pretty much got it right within the first 4 tries. At 2.15pm we filmed the final scene in which Ellie was in a bath. This shot took longer than expected as the video camera ran out of battery and we had to wait 5 minutes for it to be charged before we could resume filming. As this was only a short scene, we got the shot that we needed within the first 5 takes in which allowed us to be finished by 2.30pm.

After we had finished filming all of the scenes needed, we took some time out to look through the footage that we had collected over the day to check that we had all of the shots that we needed and if needs be, we could go out and film more takes if we felt some scenes were not as good as they could have been. Overall, all of our footage was useable and finished to the best quality that we thought it would be so we were able to be finished filming for the day at 3pm and return home.
