Main task filming schedule

We decided that the settings for our main task were to be situated as follows;

-My house in Baldock for scenes 1-5 at the beginning of our opening.
-A deserted petite white house in the middle of a field leading onto a road in Sandon for scene 6.
-The inside of Harri Long's house in Sandon for scenes 7,8, 14-20.
-The graveyard in Sandon that is situated 5 minutes from the deserted house that we found for scenes 10-12.
-The road following out of the deserted house which leads to the graveyard for scenes 9 and 13.

Time of day
We researched that stereotypically horror films are usually set during late at night when involving ghosts, so we decided to revaluate and change our horror ghost story so that it was set during the day time around 11am-3pm before it got dark. We chose to do this because we did not want the audience to think that they had seen it all before and it was  nothing new, so we changed the time so make it seem more realisitic in everyday life so that it could link to a wider audience. Our first scene was shot at 11am on saturday morning and the final shots were finished by 4pm which near enough slotted in with our goal.

Props
We did not see a significant amount of props that we felt would fit in with the theme of our movie, the only prop used was Harri Long's pet dog Dylan who featured in the sequence for one scene. We also used some surrounding leaves in the graveyard for scene 12, but aside from this we felt that for the storyline of our opening sequence, further props would have been unnecessary.

Costumes
We wanted to keep the costumes for both the characters of Katie and her mum as realistic as possible. The role of Katie, played by Ellie Duckles had 3 outfit changes that reflected her mood throughout the opening sequence due to how well her and Thomas were getting along. Her first outfit, was a knee length cap sleeved floaty floral printed dress, this being for when she had just moved house and became friends with the ghost of Thomas. The second outfit being a similarly style dress but of a navy, deep purple shade to reflect the scenes in which Thomas started to become more restless and cruel to Katie. And the third outfit being a fairly tight short sleeved knee length black dress for the final scenes in the opening when weird mysterious happenings begin to occur in which she has no control over.

The role of Katies mother, played by myself had one costume as she was only featured for a short clip in the opening. The costume worn when she is walking the dog is light blue denim jeans with a green/cream barbour style jacket and thick black socks with grey heeled boots. The reason we chose this particular outfit was because we thought it showed a trendy 30 year old mother who would be taking their dog for a walk in the morning before the school run. The mother then removes the coat to reveal a black vest with a purple/grey knitted cardigan whilst in the scene where she and Katie are talking to one another across the kitchen table at their new home. We chose for her to wear a knitted cardigan as we thought it showed a more relaxed side to their personailty and showing her willing to chill out in comfy clothes i the comfort of her own home as many other parents would do.

Our first day of filming began on Wednesday 16th November and myself, Becky and Ellie stayed over at Harri Long's house the night before to ensure that we would all be up on time to get straight into filming our final piece at 11am.
